I'll read that later... the save function on Facebook
In the many years of its existence, Facebook has developed into the largest and most popular social network. Facebook currently has 1.2 billion users who check out news and other content on a daily basis. Facebook is regularly further developed in order to offer the user even more functions related to the social network. A few days ago Facebook announced the planned introduction of the save function. A really great innovation that you should not miss!
The new save function is here
Facebook has really made good on its planned launch of the Save feature and is now providing users with the ability to save specific links, content, and news. As Facebook users, we come across interesting content every day. However, it is not uncommon for there to be insufficient time at this moment to take a closer look at the supposedly interesting content. Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to save the content. In order not to lose the content, users were forced to post it on their own timeline or take a screenshot of it for later reference.
So that this cumbersome storage of content is no longer necessary, Facebook has introduced the save function. With the save function, links, places, music, books, films, series or events can now be saved. The saved content can be found later on an overview page, similar to what is known from the n-tv app, for example. On the overview page, users have the option of sorting the saved content. Facebook provides seven categories for this – books, events, series, places, links, music, films. In this way, users should be able to find and call up the content more quickly later.
Which links or content you save are up to you. By default, Facebook has no influence on this. As usual, you can later share the saved content with your friends. In addition, Facebook has added an archiving option for the save function so that you can keep your content for longer.
We tested the new save function right away in our magazine and are thrilled - finally, you can take that great article that you saw in the office and never found again (or simply didn't think about) on your way home to finish reading.
New save function also for IOS and Android app
Facebook has now also made the save function available to users for the web interface and the apps for iOS and Android. Users can now also use the save function via the app without any further difficulties.
It should be interesting for site operators and social media managers to see how users accept this function and start using it immediately. The development of the click rate is particularly important in the field of consideration. But Facebook already has the next idea in the starting blocks. Facebook has announced that it will occasionally remind users of saved content via the newsfeed in order to recall older posts to users' memories - the newsfeed will continue to be manipulated, but old posts that we obviously found interesting will be dug up again and we read them. A great feature despite the manipulation.
Not for the offline function
Facebook clearly makes life difficult for its competitors with the same function. However, the new save function also has a disadvantage that Facebook will surely fix soon. In contrast to other providers (e.g. n-tv), Facebook does not save the posts from the save function locally on the users' devices, but on their own servers. For users, this means that they must be connected to the Internet if they want to view their stored content.
Conclusion on the new save function
Facebook has really thought along here and added a very useful function to the social network. The function is already being applied and used in large numbers. The save function proves to be a very helpful extension to not only be able to read content and links again later but also to be able to share them with friends later.
With the memory function, Facebook is now becoming a little more interesting and easier to use. The memory function is already proving to be particularly helpful in everyday use. The new function is so helpful that we are already using it ourselves after a short time. Thanks to the storage function, users never have to post content that they only want to read. Now you'll never lose content again and you'll finally finish reading that great article you've been wanting to read.
