The console war is omnipresent. Especially when switching to a new generation, some Internet knights come galloping and defend the honor of their favorite console. Today we try facts and figures about the two new consoles Xbox Series X and PS5. At the end of the day, of course, you have your own opinion.
Xbox Series X vs. PS5 - Direct Comparison
Xbox Series X vs. PS5 – The Performance Comparison
In direct comparison, the Series X looks better than the PS5. So at this point, we already have a clear winner. The actual performance, however, can speak a different language.
Depending on how well Sony manages to optimize the operating system on the individual components, the performance can actually be better than that of the Xbox Series X.
According to the data currently available, the Xbox Series X is ahead of the game at the moment. As soon as the consoles come out, we'll give you a proper report on the actual performance.
Xbox Series X Special Features
The Xbox Series X controller isn't just compatible with the console itself. You will also be able to use the new controller with the Xbox One, a Windows 10 PC, iOS and Android devices.
The game works both ways. You can connect your old Xbox One controllers to the Xbox Series X and you wouldn't even have to buy new controllers.
So the SCUF gaming controller will probably continue to be usable.
Microsoft has already confirmed that all existing Xbox One games will work on the Series X. All Xbox and Xbox 360 games playable on Xbox One will also be compatible with Series X.
So you'll only have to buy a game once to enjoy it at its best. It's not the best solution in terms of sales, but it's extremely pro-player.
Box Contents of the Xbox Series X
The good old days of having two controllers included are probably over. Well, the new Xbox doesn't hurt because you can continue to use the "old" controllers.
Besides the actual console, a controller, HDMI cable, and power cord, what else can you expect? As far as we know, the Xbox Series X has three "exclusive titles". However, Halo Infinite and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 will both be coming to PC as well.
But there will certainly be bundles with these games. Halo in particular is always a big hit when it comes to Xbox.
The Xbox One comes with trial memberships for Microsoft's online services. The Series X will probably also advertise with this.
PS5 Special Features
The PS5 will be able to run PS4 games. Backward compatibility will work for most of the top 100 games as soon as the console is released. This is made possible by the fact that the PS5 is partially built on the same structure as the PS4.
The latest games will be released for both generations of consoles for a short time, just like they did when they switched from PS3 to PS4. The PS5 will not be a pure online console. Conventional storage media such as discs are therefore still supported.
The SSD hard drive makes game installations configurable. This means that you can uninstall a certain part of a very large game. For example, if you have played through the campaign from the next CoD and gotten all the trophies, you can uninstall the single-player campaign and only leave the multiplayer on your disk.
However, the developer of the game must allow you to do this. The technical requirements for this are definitely in place. Also, developers no longer need to duplicate data to artificially speed up disk read speeds.
Included with the PS5
Since the design of the PS5 is not yet known, we cannot say too much about the scope of delivery. Just like the Series X, we suspect it will essentially be limited to the console, a controller, an HDMI cable, and a power cord.
The "exclusive title" Godfall could probably appear in a bundle with the PS5. But you will also be able to get this game on the PC.
Xbox Series X vs PS5 – The Price
A price has not yet been announced for either console. Rumor has it that Sony is struggling to keep the production costs of the PS5 below the $450 mark.
In order to make a profit at all, the price would have to be in the $500 range. In recent years, Sony has repeatedly managed to undercut Microsoft. The Xbox Series X will probably also be priced in this area.
With more than 600 euros is not to be expected in this country. Either way, you're getting a pretty good deal on either console.
Xbox Series X vs. PS5 – Our First Conclusion
Console gamers can look forward to a really good generation of consoles. Because both consoles make a good first impression. In our opinion, the Xbox currently has the better selling points.
In the end, it always comes down to being able to gamble with your friends. There's no point in buying a PS5 if everyone in your circle of friends is planning to get a Series X.
Of course, we will keep you up to date with information and support you in your purchase decision when the two consoles are on the market.
